I wouldn’t get rid of your US Citizenship. The French have a pretty easy time traveling to the USA but if you want to buy property and all that could stuff keep the American citizenship. Also what happens if you change your mind within a few months? By the way if you do end up owning American property enjoy the French property taxes. They will eat you up. You can’t waltz into a foreign nation with your seeming cowboy attitude and expect to get far.

Sure, denounce away, but I’d suggest waiting to see if you get French citizenship first. You may end up without a country and that can be disastrous. You will forfeit your social security. Feel free to visit the US anytime if you can get a visa. Buy what you want, as long as you have the money and pay the taxes. Nobody cares. There’s plenty for us. If we run out of houses, we just build more. There’s plenty of land and it’s good for the economy.

‘our’ Euro? Getting a bit ahead of yourself, aren’t you?

By all means go to a consular officer and sign and declare that you want to renounce your citizenship. As to getting French citizenship, you are on your own, however. If you get it, you will be a citizen of a visa waiver country and eligible to be a tourist here.

Do you know how many people from all over move to France, want to get French citizenship, and get French social security?
Are you some kind of hot number that France would jump at the opportunity to have you?
Maybe you can just get married for residency and hang loose.
The French really prefer the French, and they can recognize faux-French and aren’t impressed.

Sure! First step is to go into the US Embassy and renounce ( not denounce) your citizenship. They will take care of everything else.

Better hurry, I understand there is going to be a rush and it will slow things down a lot.
